The North Haledon Volunteer Fire Department is an all-volunteer emergency services
organization that provides the residents of North Haledon, NJ with fire suppression and
technical rescue services as well as fire prevention education. In addition, the NHFD
provides services to surrounding communities, as needed through mutual aid
agreements. Established in 1912, the NHFD has served the town of North Haledon for
almost 100 years.
The members of the North Haledon fire department participate in one of the most diverse
and challenging professions in existence. Imagine training to prepare yourself to deal with
situations which range from fighting structure fires to cleaning up hazardous chemical
spills to extricating victims involved in automobile accidents to handling almost any other
imaginable
emergency situation. And remember to take into account that these skills may
be called upon at any time of day, seven days a week, and in any kind of weather. Even
though our department calls on its members to perform difficult, strenuous work, often in
hazardous environments, their reward is not monetary, but comes instead from a sense of
accomplishment and the knowledge that they are helping their community.
We are always looking for more volunteer members. No previous experience is
necessary, and all training and equipment are provided at no cost.
